Ditch the Razor and Switch to Wax

As you may already know, I offer facial waxing services in the salon. Waxing is something that I personally enjoy because well, I’m Italian and I have a lot of hair. So therefore, I know the struggle of wanting a smooth, hair-free surface.

Not only is facial waxing common, but so is leg, arm, arm-pit, brazillion and the list goes on. You can get waxed pretty much anywhere and the benefits are endless. So let’s talk about it.

The Benefits of Waxing

  • The biggest benefit of waxing is a smooth, hair-free surface. It takes off almost all of your hairs in just a few swipes.

  • It’s a quick way to be hair-free for a long period of time. Although waxing takes at least 15-20 minutes, it’s fairly fast compared to how long you can go before you need another wax.

  • It can actually be less irritating. Shaving can cause in-grown hairs, razor burn and even knicks from cutting yourself. Not to mention epilitories like ‘Nair’ can cause much more irritation to the skin vs a wax.

  • It lasts anywhere from 3-6 weeks. When you wax, it deadens the follicle which leads to slower regrowth. Depending on where you wax, you can go anywhere from a month to two months in between your waxes. For my facial waxes, I usually like to get them on a once a month regimen.

  • The more you wax, the finer your regrowth will become. Because you’re consistently ripping out the root of the hair follicle, the more you continue to do so, the softer and finer the hair will grow back.

  • It promotes less in-grown hairs because you are accurately pulling out the root of the hair follicle.

Need I say more? Waxing is something that I’ve been doing for a while now on both clients and myself. I can honestly say I feel the difference between waxing my eyebrows and upper lip VS plucking and using a facial razor. I even wax the vellus hairs on my cheeks sometimes for a smoother surface for my makeup to sit on. Overall, the surface is smoother and when it comes to brows, the outcome is sharper.

Like I said earlier, you can go quite a while in-between waxes. I like getting my clients on a once a month regimen for their facial waxing needs but it’s all based on personal preference and how fast your hair grows. Also, the added bonus of getting a facial wax is brow shaping as well. This includes trimming the eyebrows down to really see their full shape and potential. The goal is to get the brows to a place where they need little filling in.

I am fortunate enough to say that I have gotten so many compliments for how gentle and easy my waxes are. I also strive to never be a part of those bad waxing experiences you hear about.
