Truth be told I am always working on myself. Not because I think there is anything wrong with who I am, but because I want to work to be the best version of myself.
Who do I want to be my best self for? First and foremost, me. I owe it to myself to put my best foot forward so I can live my best life. Secondly, I want to be my best self for the people I so closely surround myself with. Meaning, my partner, parents, grandparents, friends etc. I so graciously owe to them what they give to me. Support, love, advice, memories and the list goes on. But lastly, I owe to my clients to be my best self. I owe to them the best experience I can possibly give them. My clients deserve to be given anything they need. Whether it’s just hair and makeup or maybe they need a little pick me up, or someone to tell them everything is going to workout. My job can be so much more than just makeup and hair sometimes. So in order to give you what you need, I need to be my best me.
Now you’re probably thinking, what are you doing to help yourself be better? Small things. Listening to motivational podcasts is my latest thing. Whether it’s a podcast about work and being an entrepreneur, how to be my best in my relationship or about being happy. The positivity that’s fed to you, the motivation, almost lights a fire under your butt. It helps your thinking. Same goes with motivational books. I am currently reading “Girl Wash Your Face” by Rachel Hollis. I’m listening to her podcasts as well. Now, it has to be a REALLY good book for me to one be interested, and two, actually continuously read it and want to read it because reading is so not my thing. I also am “trying” to eat healthier and get more exercise in my life. Which I feel like everyone and their brother wants to “try” and do. By this I mean I want to choose healthier choices to eat as much as possible. I’m nowhere near being a health nut and I’m certainly not putting avocado on anything I’m eating. As far as exercise goes, I hate going to the gym and just about any workout routine there is just isn’t my thing. But, I have found that I do really like yoga. So my goal is to go to yoga as often as I can. Like Rachel Hollis mentioned in her book, when you set such strict goals for yourself and then don’t follow through you’re training your body to not follow through and be ok with that. Therefore, I set the small goal of going as much as I can and committing to it. So far, it’s these simple little things I am doing in hopes of a bigger result.
You’re also probably asking why I am writing this and putting it on the blog of my business website. The reason is because I want you to know the commitment I am making to myself and the people in my life. I want to be as real as possible with you and I want you to feel like you’re talking to me. Maybe I even inspired you to start doing little things to help be your best self.
