I’ve asked myself this question before. Why would someone choose me over the hundreds of other artists in the area? The obvious answer is because of my work; but I can’t help but think about the other amazingly talented artists out there.
Aside from my work, the only other reason I can think of is you would hire me because of who I am. Now, this is difficult for me because I only spend a short amount time with clients and I am awful at making conversation. When you meet me I come off as shy, but in reality I’m not scared to talk to you, I just don’t know what to say. As time goes on and I get to know you it becomes easier for me to think of conversation but that has to be my number one struggle in my career. So how can you get to know me? After some time I have realized my clients can get to know me through my blog, my words and this powerful thing called the internet and social media.
Thankfully, although I am not good at speaking my words, I am excellent at writing them down. Now, how do you accurately put who you are as a whole into a couple paragraphs on a blog post? Trick question, you don’t. I’ve actually been writing this blog post for months and kept walking away from it cause I could never perfectly say who I am as a whole. I had the realization today that no one can learn all about who you are just from one blog post. But, you can get a pretty good idea of who I am from bits and pieces of each blog post.
I actually originally created my blog because I enjoyed writing about my career and what I'm passionate about. Writing about myself slowly came about and it ended up having more interaction and response than my posts about hair and makeup. I’ve now realized this is the perfect outlet for you to get to really know who I am before you hire me.
So basically, where I’m going with this is that I am different because I have created different ways through my website and social media for clients to get to know me. To some, it may not be as important to really know who your artist is because at the end of the day you want to make sure the look you recieved was exactly how you wanted it to be. But I feel aside from the work being great, if you truly feel like you know and love who your artist is that will make the experience as a whole so much better.
With that said, I will continue to pour my heart and soul not only into my work, but also these posts so you truly know the person behind Simply Elegant Beauty.
